Sometimes when you defrost a Fridge Freezer it can fail to cool the Fridge section when you start it up again. More than likely a top-up of gas / refrigerant should sort it. Any reputable local service engineer should be well able to get a result.

My mum heard you on the radio a few days ago and was interested in the tip to cut down travel sickness, but has missed some of it, can you please email it to me?
While repairing appliances for customers many have asked if we knew of a simple prevention for kids feeling sick in cars. We’re not doctors, however, we believe detergents are so strong they can iritate babies skin due to overdosing your washing machine with detergent. It’ll reduce acne iritation on teenagers skin. Here a few tips people have passed on to us:
- Wash/ dry your clothes inside out. While in the inside of the garment is bouncing off the drum it reduces static electricity in the garment. A large reason kids get sick in cars. (It also prevents the garment balling / fading).
- Reduce your detergent input to heaped tablespoon / eggcupful of detergent to you washing machine. Increase the detergent gradually for harder water areas. You’ll know you’ve got hard water if you kettle element is white!
- Don’t dry your clothes fully. Dry at half-heat. Hang the clothes in the hot press just before they dry fully. Less ironing to do.
Any tips you’ve got pass them on. We’re always keen to learn.

We got an SOS from Liam – our head of IT – today. ”You gotta help me, the ice-cream in my freezer is thawing out”. His flatmate greeted us at the door. Serious business hands on hips ”Fix it or you’re toast!” Pressure on.
We duly inspected the appliance patient to find the freezer in question was an under-counter fridge with an ice-box type freezer.
This style of freezer has a * one star rating designed to store frozen food for up to 3/4 days.

* One star (-6 degrees centigrade) is perfect for making ice cubes and is sufficiently cold to keep food for three or four days.
** Two stars (-12 degrees centigrade) stores food for 15/20 days.
*** Three stars (-18 degrees centigrade) will keep food safe for up to 3 months.
**** Four stars (below 18 degrees centigrade) means that the compartment provides the ideal conditions for freezing down fresh and pre-cooked foods(also known as blast freezing.

If your washing machine is full of water the water needs to be drained we’ll help you to do this. If the washing machine is dead/indicator lights with the machine full of water it could be as simple as a blown fuse. If you replace the fuse in the plug the washing machine should then pump the water out itself.
If the washing machine seems to be working normally but simply won’t drain the water then the possible causes are:
(a) A blockage in the washing machine – Blockages are more likely. Normally it’s pump filter or the sump hose is blocked.
(b) Pump failure – Replace the drain pump from our massive selection. The washing machine should then pump the water out itself.
